I never wanted to be right, I just wanted to be understood from my point of view.

Being right ends the discussion. Being understood starts it. These are not even the same game at all. One is about winning the point quickly and decisively; the other is about inviting someone to see the shape of your perspective from inside your head — why it matters deeply to you, what you noticed first, and what it would truly cost you to let it go. Unfortunately, most people default to scorekeeping because it’s faster and feels safer than the messy, vulnerable work of translation. When you say, “here’s how it looks from where I’m standing,” too often they hear, “here’s why I’m correct,” and then you both get stuck in a back-and-forth of defending and attacking instead of describing and understanding. The desire to be understood is often seen as weakness or softness, but in reality, it’s the far riskier and braver move. It means you take off the armor of being right and lay out the logic and feeling behind your point of view with honesty and openness. It means risking vulnerability for the sake of genuine connection. When you do this, you move beyond exhausting battles to create dialogue that’s rich, thoughtful, and transformative. Remember, true connection and progress begin when you stop fighting to be right and start inviting others into the full story of where you’re coming from. That’s when real understanding—and real change—can happen.#BeingUnderstood #SeekToUnderstand #PerspectiveMatters #BeyondBeingRight #ListenToUnderstand #VulnerabilityIsStrength #CourageOverComfort #EmpathyOverEgo #AuthenticConnection #DeepConversation #HumanConnection
