This is why I don’t go to the doctor’s. He said I have eczema and instantly felt like I’m dying.

He said eczema. Just that one word. And my brain instantly went to I’m dying.
Not itchy. Not dry skin. Dying.
If you know, you know. I avoided the appointment for months because I didn’t want to hear anything bad. Then I finally go, get an answer that’s actually common and manageable, and I still spiral.
That’s the part nobody talks about. It’s not always the diagnosis. It’s what your mind does with it. 2am Google. Worst case scenario. That loop where one thought creates ten more and now you’re grieving a life you haven’t even lost.
I’m Type B in the truest sense. Either I’m in full marathon mode handling everything, or I’m completely shut down staring at the ceiling asking impossible questions. There is no chill in between.
But I’m learning to own my narrative here too. Going to get checked IS strength. Staying open enough to hear the answer and not turn it into a horror movie in my head, that’s growth.
If you’ve ever felt your chest get tight just hearing a doctor say something small, you are not weak. You are not dramatic. You’re human. And you’re not alone in that waiting room anxiety.
I left with some cream, some instructions, and a reminder that my mind needs care just like my skin does. Still figuring it out. Still standing tall even when I’m on the edge.
If you been putting off that appointment, take this as your sign to go. Don’t let fear write the story for you.
